Try a real question
The recently observed gamma ray burst GRB 230307A lasted for 200 seconds, ______ for a burst generated by the merger of neutron stars. Bursts caused by neutron mergers typically last fewer than 2 seconds.
Which choice completes the text with the most logical and precise word or phrase?
The second sentence sets the expectation: bursts from neutron-star mergers usually last less than 2 seconds. GRB 230307A lasted 200 seconds, about a hundred times longer than that, so it was strange for its kind. “An oddity” means something unusual or out of the ordinary, which is exactly the point the text makes.
“An incident” is tempting because it sounds scientific, but it only means “an event.” It doesn’t say anything about the burst being unexpected, and the blank needs a word that compares this burst to typical ones.
Get 4,500+ more questions freeIn a group, 40% of the items are red. Of all the red items in the group, 30% also have stripes. What percentage of the items in the group are red with stripes?
The 30% is a percentage of the red items, not of the whole group, so take 30% of the 40%: 0.30 × 0.40 = 0.12. That means 12% of all the items are red with stripes. A quick check with 100 items: 40 are red, and 30% of those 40 is 12.
70% comes from adding 40% and 30%. Adding would only make sense if both percentages were out of the same whole; here the 30% applies to the red items only, so you multiply instead.

Yes. Upload any SAT practice test PDF to an AI chat with our prompt, paste the reply into blueberry, and take it as a timed, Bluebook-style test. Here’s how.
Bluebook is the College Board’s official app: it’s where you take the real SAT and its official practice tests. blueberry is for everything in between: more full-length tests in the same format, a lesson for every skill, drills that adapt to you, an explanation for every question, an AI Tutor, and stats that show what’s costing you points. We’d recommend taking the official Bluebook practice tests too.
No. blueberry is an independent study tool. It isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the College Board, which owns the SAT trademark and the Bluebook app.
blueberry runs in your web browser, so there’s nothing to install. It works on phones for quick practice, but for full-length tests use a laptop or tablet, the same kind of device you’ll take the real SAT on.
